TREATMENT SUMMARY
Purpose
Skin needling is primarily used to stimulate collagen production, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and improve skin tone, texture, and pigmentation. Compared to more invasive treatments, skin needling carries a lower risk of hyperpigmentation and scarring, making it a safer option for individuals with ethnic or darker skin tones.
Who is it for?
Microneedling is generally safe for most skin types. However, individuals who are pregnant or have a history of eczema, psoriasis, herpes, diabetes, or other chronic conditions should seek medical advice before undergoing treatment.
Please note: This treatment is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.
How it works
As each tiny needle penetrates the skin, it creates a microchannel or controlled wound. These micro-injuries close naturally within 10 minutes, preserving the integrity of the skin’s surface.
The process disrupts superficial collagen strands and tiny blood vessels, triggering a controlled inflammatory response. This includes the release of platelet-derived growth factors, which stimulate the production of new collagen, elastin, and capillaries.
Results
- Minimises scars from acne, surgery, chickenpox, or burns
- Rejuvenates the face by improving fine lines, wrinkles, tone, texture, and pigmentation
- Carries a lower risk of post-treatment pigmentation issues, making it safer for darker skin types
- Suitable for delicate or thin skin
- Well tolerated and generally comfortable for patients
- Cost-effective and versatile—suitable for areas not ideal for chemical peels or lasers, including around the eyes
- Unlike ablative laser treatments, the outer skin remains intact, allowing for repeat sessions if necessary
- Doesn’t leave a sharp contrast between treated and untreated skin, so individual scars or areas can be targeted without the need for blending
Treatment Summary
The procedure is typically well tolerated and may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size and condition of the treatment area. A series of 6 treatments is recommended for optimal results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Some areas of the face may feel slightly uncomfortable during treatment, but the procedure is relatively quick. Your professional skin therapist will tailor the treatment to your skin’s sensitivity and progress at a pace that’s right for you.
As with any advanced skin treatment, multiple sessions are recommended to achieve noticeable, long-lasting results. The exact number will depend on your individual skin type and goals, but typically, a course of 4 to 6 Microneedling sessions spaced every 4 to 6 weeks is advised.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure with little to no downtime. You may notice mild redness or irritation for 2–3 days post-treatment, which usually subsides quickly. It’s essential to follow the post-care routine provided by your therapist, as this will significantly impact your healing and results.
While at-home microneedling tools (such as rollers or stamps) are available, they aren’t designed to deliver the same results as professional treatments. These home-use devices generally have much shorter needle lengths (0.1mm–0.3mm) and are intended to boost product absorption, not to trigger the deep skin remodelling required for visible rejuvenation.
In contrast, professional microneedling tools use needles between 0.5mm – 3mm and must be handled by trained experts in sterile, clinical environments to ensure safety and efficacy.
Microneedling is effective for addressing a wide range of skin issues, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scarring
- Enlarged pores
- Uneven skin texture
- Stretch marks
- Sun damage
It’s a highly versatile treatment for overall skin rejuvenation.
While microneedling isn’t a one-off solution, it does produce long-lasting effects by stimulating collagen production. Over time, this leads to visible improvements in your skin’s tone, texture, and firmness.
Since collagen renewal is a continuous, natural process, regular maintenance sessions may be needed to preserve results—especially as aging and environmental factors impact your skin over time.
When performed by a trained professional, microneedling does not cause breakouts. In fact, it can help improve acne scars and promote healthier skin.
How?
By refining skin texture and reducing pore blockages, microneedling lowers the risk of breakouts. It can also help regulate sebum (oil) production, which plays a key role in acne development.
It’s important to avoid direct sun exposure immediately after microneedling. Protect your skin with a broad-spectrum SPF and follow all aftercare guidance. This helps prevent hyperpigmentation and supports your skin’s healing process.
